What a Beauty Editor Packs for a Business Trip

Updated: Nov 16, 2019

The skill of packing lightly, once mastered, can subsequently make your transit and travel process so much easier. I also prefer to travel with the minimum because it makes passing through airport security a little less stressful.

Being a minimalist (and an enthusiast of the no makeup makeup look), packing simply and moderately comes easy to me. Once you realize you don’t need much, especially if you bring multitasking products, that's the moment you get over your fear of missing out. I try to plan my looks as I am packing and think about what I will truly use, that way I can avoid over packing and keep the content of my beauty bag to a minimum.

Here are some of my beauty essentials that I always bring, no matter where I’m headed or the reason for my trip.

SPF

We all know by now that sunscreen is a daily must, but we often forget that when we are flying at 30,000 feet, we're actually a lot closer to the sun than usual (obviously), so sunscreen is crucial, especially if you like the window seat like me!

SKINCARE

I always try to pack multitasking products to simplify my beauty process. I always travel with Clarins’ Beauty Flash Balm because it instantly, moisturizes, brightens, smoothens, and tightens the skin’s surface to help eliminate signs of fatigue and stress. I use it to prepare the skin for a long-lasting makeup application and also as a 10-minute pick-me-up mask to invigorate the skin. To keep your skin looking radiant and plump, moisture and hydration is key, so I often layer a moisturizing luminizer, like Fresh's FreshFace Instant Glow Luminizer, on top to ensure luminous skin upon arrival.

I also like to bring a travel sized face oil for an extra layer of moisture. The air and the stress from flying can affect our skin in multiple ways, that's why our it might seem dull and dehydrated after taking the plane. When I'm not using the Beauty Flash Balm, I like to use an overnight mask (especially on longer flights), like Lancôme's Énergie de Vie The Overnight Recovery Sleeping Mask, to deeply hydrate, nourish and give my skin an extra boost of antioxidants it needs. An overnight mask can also double as a night cream, perfect to restore skin's overall health and beauty during your trip.

MAKEUP

If I have a meeting to attend as soon as I land, I'll usually do my makeup during the last hour of the flight. Four products are all I need to do my face! I'll start with Dior's Diorshow Bold Brow to fill in and place my brows, then I'll move on to the eyes by applying Charlotte Tilbury's Colour Chameleon in Amber Haze and Marc Jacobs' O!Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara. Lastly, I'll perfect, colour and highlight my skin with Chanel's Palette Essentielle, and use the colour red as a lip colour as well. I also like to keep a rollerball version of my favourite fragrance in my makeup bag to reapply if I feel the need.

Another in-flight/travel staple of mine is Dr. Bronner's Lavender Organic Hand Sanitizer, because enemy number one might be the dehydrating air, but the germs are definitely a close second.
