Granted, most of us don't really want to read about a young woman talking about aging gracefully. That being said, I find most people are stressed and/or afraid of getting older no matter how old they are... me included. So I've decided to try to stop wasting time stressing about things I can't control, because frankly, it is exhausting and also... fuck your beauty standards. It's natural, it's inevitable and it's actually a beautiful thing!
It's part of life. It means that we get a chance, every day, to learn, explore, laugh, cry, and live a full, happy life filled with opportunities. Every minute, every second, we age and it's okay, even though most of the content we see online seems to tell us otherwise. I think we really need to change how we think about aging, and that starts with how we talk about it. Once we start celebrating the beauty in all ages, our thoughts on the subject will slowly transform into a more respectful, empathetic, and encouraging way of thinking. Of course, not everything about aging is great, but learning to accept the good in the bad and the bad in the good is one of life's greatest lessons.
Our skin is beautiful, imperfections and all. Period.
When it comes to beauty and skincare, remember that there are no miracles, everything is retouched and there's no such thing as "anti-aging"! Let's be realistic! Truth is, wrinkles and fine lines are just signs of deep dehydration overtime (that and eventually the body starts to produce less collagen). Let's stop mistaking retouched images for reality. Making sure to take care of your skin everyday, is the only true way to prevent wrinkles (to some extent of course).
Protect yourself from the sun, moisturize, eat well, be happy, stress less and of course, drink water. That's all there is to it!
